FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know before you brief us.

  • The honest answer? It depends on the scope. Anyone who gives you a fixed price before understanding your brief is guessing. That said, here are the real ranges we work within.

A single commercial shoot day with full post-production costs between £2,500 and £8,000 for most clients. That covers pre-production, a crew of two to four, high-end equipment, and two rounds of revisions. Combined film and photography in a single day runs from £4,500, which is typically 30 to 40 per cent cheaper than commissioning the two separately.

Larger productions with casting, multiple locations, or multi-platform deliverable packages run between £10,000 and £40,000. High-end campaign work with agency partners, talent fees, and location builds goes beyond that.

Monthly retainers for ongoing social content start from £2,500+. The variables that move the number the most are crew size, shoot days, the complexity of post-production, and usage rights.

Some potential clients come to us with a budget, and we’re able to tailor our offer to work for them.

Not sure what we would charge for your project? Get in touch.

  • For a standard commercial shoot, a typical production takes four to six weeks from confirmed brief to approved final delivery.

The timeline breaks down like this: one to two weeks of pre-production (creative development, casting, locations, scheduling), one to two shoot days, then two to three weeks of post-production, including a first cut, your feedback round, and the final master export. We build two revision rounds into every project as standard.

Larger productions with multiple shoot days, complex animation work, or campaigns requiring agency sign-off at each stage can run eight to twelve weeks.

Fast turnaround projects are possible if the calendar allows, and we're honest about whether a tight deadline is realistic before we commit. The single most important thing you can do to compress timelines is send a complete brief upfront: creative direction, brand guidelines, usage requirements, and any technical specifications. Incomplete briefs can add a week of back-and-forth before pre-production can even begin.

If you’d like a free, non-obligation proposal that includes a schedule, get in touch.

  • Agencies come to us when they have a great brief they’d like to deliver on, but not the bandwidth. They need a trusted, discreet partner to get the job done. We operate as an extension of your team on set and in the edit, not as a standalone studio that needs hand-holding through your process.

For agency partners, we operate on a white-label basis when required, meaning your client never needs to see another production company's name.

ay rates for agency crew supply, full production packages, and retainer-based content arrangements are all available.

We work regularly with agencies across fashion, sport, FMCG, and non-profit sectors. If you're an agency producer evaluating us as a production partner, the most useful thing to do is send the brief through to hello@luthermeb.com with your timeline, and we'll turn around a realistic proposal within 48 hours.

  • Yes. Travel is a standard part of how we work, not an exception we need convincing on.

We've shot across twelve countries, including locations in Europe, North Africa, the US, and beyond. Within the UK, we cover any location as a matter of course. Race weekends for motorsport clients take us to circuits across Europe with tight, non-negotiable production windows, which have sharpened the logistics side of how we plan and execute international shoots.

For domestic travel (anywhere in the UK), we factor travel and accommodation costs into the project quote transparently. For international shoots, the same applies: flights, accommodation, local fixers where needed, and any location permits or insurance requirements are scoped upfront so there are no surprises on the final invoice.

If you have a project you’d like to shoot outside of the UK, we don’t blame you. Get in contact.

  • 01 · Brief and proposal. You send us the brief (or we get on a call if it's complex). We come back within 48 hours with a written proposal covering creative approach, deliverables, timeline, and cost. No vague estimates.

02 · Pre-production. Once the project is confirmed, we handle location scouting, casting, call sheets, permits, equipment planning, and any third-party supplier coordination. You're involved in creative sign-off at each stage.

03 · Shoot. We arrive prepared. Shot lists are finalised the evening before. Every crew member knows their role. The brief is on set, not back at a desk.

04 · Post-production. First cuts are often delivered within two weeks of wrap. Two revision rounds included. Final master in your required formats within one week of final approval.

05 · Delivery and handover. Final files delivered via a shared drive with a clear naming convention. We're reachable for 30 days post-delivery for any platform or format queries. The person who took your brief is the person who was on set and in the edit.

  • Three to four weeks is the minimum for a standard commercial shoot. Six to eight weeks for anything involving casting, multiple locations, or a large deliverable package.

The calendar fills faster than most clients expect, particularly in the periods leading up to key commercial seasons: January for spring campaigns, August for autumn, and October for Christmas. If your campaign has a fixed air date or launch window, work backwards from that and add at least one buffer week for unexpected post-production feedback loops.

Race weekend shoots need to be locked in as soon as the event date is confirmed, since circuit access and crew availability around race calendars is genuinely limited.

The clearest advice: if you know a project is coming in the next quarter, reach out now. A 10-minute conversation to scope the timeline costs nothing and prevents the scenario of your campaign launch date being missed because the shoot was booked too late to allow proper post-production. We hold dates on a first-confirmed basis.

  • Yes, and for brands with a consistent content output need, a retainer is almost always better value than commissioning project by project.

A retainer arrangement gives you a fixed number of shoot days per month, guaranteed crew availability, priority scheduling, and a consistent creative partnership that gets sharper over time. The more we understand your brand, the faster and better the work gets. One-off shoots require briefing from scratch each time; a six-month retainer means by month three we're producing content with minimal back-and-forth because the creative language is established.

Retainers start from £2,500 per month for a light-touch social content arrangement (one half-day shoot, editing, platform variants). Full production retainers for brands running regular campaigns are scoped individually based on volume, crew requirements, and post-production complexity.

Our minimum commitment is three months. If you're currently commissioning three or more video or photography projects per year, it's worth a conversation about whether a retainer would serve you better.
